Parea x Free to Feed Community Party

PAREA x FREE TO FEED
You’re invited to a big beautiful community party with our friends at Parea, a Naarm / Melvourni based Greek & Cypriot collective. Our cosy Fitzroy North home will be filled with doilies, dancing, vegetable stuffing and traditions, fusing our communities together, an amalgamation of cultures and people, many of which have influenced each other across fertile soils and olive tree groves.

LET'S COOK TOGETHER!
As part of the party, we’ll come together to create a meal as a community, with a very special Yiayia – greek for Grandma – teaching us how to make Yemista (stuffed vegetables), a heartwarming dish brimming with tradition and stories. These hands-on workshops (limited spaces available - book your place below) will be an honouring of the way in which women have gathered in villages for centuries across cultures and countries, to make food for their people, while swapping stories and a bit of healthy gossip.

There’ll be some Free to Feed snacks available too to complement Yiayia’s cooking, a fully stocked bar, casual seating a plenty, Kat Zam’s beautiful Greek Diaspora Stories projected on the wall, and a backdrop of authentic music curated by Parea, including Meli Trio (feat. Katerina Stevens and two others, playing instrumental Greek music) - get ready to dance!

Bring your friends, loved ones (maybe your very own Yiayia?) and let’s come together to celebrate our roots and the roots of your neighbours. We hope you feel right at home. Everyone is welcome at our community party xo

JOIN US FOR: Greek stories, Yemista making, Yiayia’s cooking, Free to Feed snacks, live music and dancing!
YEMISTA WORKSHOPS: We will be running two workshops, both free, but with very limited spaces. Please book into either workshop below (Workshop #1 4:15 - 4:45PM OR Workshop #2 5:15 - 5:45PM). Together with Yiayia, you’ll be cooking Yemistas for everyone!
GENERAL ADMISSION COST: $15 (This ticket price includes curated Parea DJs and a live instrumental performance by Meli Trio, a taste of Yiayia’s cooking and a small donation to Free to Feed, a not-for-profit creating empowering opportunities for people from refugee and asylum seeking backgrounds.)
